One more day to finalize your writing activity.  Good luck!

Did you submit your Rosetta Stone Lessons 21 - 30?

Mark down your grade on the Reading Comprehension.  If you continue to mark down grades on your calendar, there's a chance for big extra credit at the end of the six weeks.

Speaking of extra credit, TEN points go out to our Students-of-the-Every-Other-Week.  Click on the tab to find out who.

Did you turn in your Reading Comprehension assignment?

Hola!  I'm back in the US!  :)

Progress reports are officially sent.  Please message me if you have a question.

This week:

1) Start your writing activity.  It is due on Friday, but it's a good idea to start now.  This way we can work together to edit it and get it perfect.

2)  Your reading assignment is due tomorrow.

3) The next ten lessons of Rosetta Stone are due on Wednesday.

BONUS:  5 extra credit points if you can figure out what this is a picture of.  Be specific about what it's made of, where it's made, when it's made, and why.  :)  Google it. Or something.  ;)  There's another picture on the Spanish 1 tab.

PictureThis is lake Atitlan in Guatemala. That's a volcano. This is a real picture from my camera.
Whew!  We made it to Friday. We've had a busy week!

Official progress reports go out TODAY.  The progress reports will include grades from the following assignments:

Rosetta Stone Lessons 1 - 10
Rosetta Stone Lessons 11 - 20
Discussion Forum
Grammar Lesson
Speaking Activity

If you would like to know your current average, simply click on the grade book link and divide your total points by 270.  That is how many possible points earned so far this six weeks.

If you would like EXTRA CREDIT, message me with what you think your average is.  If you're RIGHT and it matches my records, you'll get 2 bonus points today.  Pretty easy cheesy way to earn some points

Next week you have ten more lessons due plus a writing activity that I would really like you to spend some time on.  Charge ahead.  :)

This is a BUSY week.  Progress reports go out Friday.

Buckle up and focus on the drive.

Today
- Work on RS!!

Tuesday - Your Grammar Lesson is due.  It will take most of the period, so please budget your time.  You MUST take notes and really focus on this one.

Wednesday - RS Lessons 11 - 20 due.  Since you don't have Tuesday much to work on it, it's important you get a plan.

Thursday - Speaking Assignment Due.  It's ok to start this on Thursday IF you budget the entire period to get it done.  It's a bit different than last semester and you should practice before you record.

Good morning!  Click on the Spanish 1 tab above to see some pictures of our time in Guatemala.  :)  Enjoy!!
Good luck on finishing up your Rosetta Stone today.

Good Monday morning!!

Please work today on Rosetta Stone.  As soon as you finish up with your first ten lessons, post it in the Guthrie Site for your first RS grade.  It's due in two days!
Also, your Discussion Forum grade is now posted in your gradebook link.  Please also keep record of your grades on your calendar this six weeks.  There is a space at the end of each week for you to write how many points you've earned.  If you keep up with this, there is a possible extra credit opportunity at the end of the six weeks.  :)
I know it may seem like the assignment due dates are moving slowly at the beginning, but keep up and keep working.  The pace will quicken and I don't want you to be overwhelmed or left behind.

Hola!!  If you'd like to start off the semester with extra credit...

You can earn two points by messaging me and telling me:

1) That you read yesterday's New Feed.  Mention one thing you learned in yesterday's entry.

2) Tell me one thing you did over the holidays.

Happy New Year, amigos!!!  Welcome to 2014 and the blessing of a fresh start.

<----  Is this the cutest little reindeer you've ever seen?  That's my two year old, Georgia singing Jingle Bells at her Pre-School Christmas party.  I hope your Christmas break, like mine, was full of fun, friends, and family.

As you read this, I am sitting and living (again) in GUATEMALA!!!  :)  The new picture above was taken in he neighborhood where I will be living this month.  Many of you know that my family and I lived for two years in Guatemala.  I was living in Guatemala when I first started teaching with Guthrie Virtual School.  The little girl you see in the picture is actually a Guatemalan citizen since she was born there in 2011.  Fun facts!

We will be in Guatemala for the entire month of January.  I will still here HERE, even though I'm THERE.  I may not be able to reply to texts or phone calls as easily, but I will still be logging in and seeing you in class everyday.  Message me as normal and I'll reply quickly.  I'm hoping we can even try to Skype while I'm in Guatemala and show you all the volcano that's right outside our home where I'll be watching your progress and working.

MOST things in class will operate similarly to last semester.  Please please please please please please please please please print off your module calendar as soon as possible.  I have designed the calendar this six weeks to include your checklist of assignments and points, so I hope you find that format convenient and useful.  I am including a link to the calendar here at the bottom of this post as well as on the Guthrie Site.

Here's a simple break-down of what you should be doing:

1) Print off calendar and get a feel for the work ahead.  Make a plan for the six weeks.

2)  Get started in Level 1, Unit 4 of Rosetta Stone.

3)  Make a post in the Discussion Forum.

4)  Message your teacher and tell her hi!  :)  I'd love to hear a highlight from your break.

Con mucho amor, amigos!!  I'll see you in class!
